Ranches To Residences. This is the photographic history of the Conejo Valley as seen through the lens of Ed Lawrence.

Long known as the informal chronicler of the Conejo Valley, past and present, photographer Ed Lawrence's photographs  chronicle the transformation of Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and  Newbury Park from small ranching communities with a few thousand  residents to bustling suburbs that are home to scores of businesses and more than 100,000 people.  Ed's work provides an amazing perspective on what this area was like 50 years ago to today.  If  not for Ed Lawrence and his collection of historical photo's, the  cowboys, sheep herders and ancient oaks that once marked the landscape  of the Conejo Valley might be forgotten.
